  A Carpenter A carpenter is a person whose job is making and repairing wooden objects and structures. He works with wood. He makes different kinds of wooden furniture. He is hired by the villagers to make chairs, tables, benches, doors, windows etc. He is also asked to do small repair work. In the rural area, he does not find work everyday. He is not well-off. He can not earn much. He lives from hand to mouth. He has an artistic mind. He makes many beautiful and fashionable furniture. He makes many attractive designs on the wooden furniture. He tries his best to do his work with skill because his work needs much skill. His success as a carpenter depends on his skill. In the past the rich and wealthy people would hire a carpenter to make beautiful and fashionable furniture with attractive designs. Though he is not well educated, his work is no less important at all. Rather he renders a great service to us. 

A Teacher A teacher is an architect of a nation. He plays an important role in building up an educated nation. He dispels the darkness of ignorance from the lot of a nation. He is an actor, so to speak. He has to suit his act according to the need of his audience which is his class. He is able to hold the attention and interest of his students. He is a clear speaker with a good, strong pleasing voice which is under his control. He does not sit motionless before his class. He makes lessons interesting to the students. He makes his students confident and proves them clever. Everybody has something valuable inside him. A good teacher discovers the treasure hidden inside each student. He also wants the students happy and for this he keeps them busy. A good teacher never hankers after money. His only thought is how he can present the nation as a good citizen. 

My Best Friend A friend is one, who has the feelings of friendship. We can't go in this age of global relationship without friendship. A good friend is a heavenly bliss to us. I have a good friend. I have known him for more than seven years. At school, from a hard quarrel our friendship started. He He quarreled with me for a specific ground, but I was very cruel to him. Even I hit him seriously, but he didn't take it otherwise. In spite of reverse attitude, he remained calm and quiet.  It pulled me near him and at last, he has become my best friend. He is a boy of mild nature. He doesn't talk to others unnecessarily. He doesn't harm others. There are many good qualities in him. Honesty, modesty, politeness, sincerity, mildness, orientation to reading books etc. are the qualities available in my friend. The feeling that he shows me are undoubtedly genuine. Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony of Our School  The prize-giving ceremony of our school was held on 2nd April in the school compound. We decorated the school building very tastefully. The function began just at 10 am with recitation from the Holy Quran. The principal of P.N. College was in the chair. The Headmaster read out his report. Then the main ceremony began. ⇾  My First Day At School ⇾  A Book Shop ⇾  Dictionary The Headmaster called each recipient by name and the president gave away the prizes and shook him by the hands. I got two prizes. When the formal meeting came to the end, we staged a short drama to entertain the guests which was highly appreciated by the audience. This being over, the Headmaster thanked the president for the trouble he took in coming to the function. A concluding song suited to the occasion was sung by student of class 8. 

Using A Dictionary If you want to improve your English, you must learn to use a dictionary. A dictionary helps you with the meanings of words. It also shows you the correct spelling and pronunciation of a word. To get help from a dictionary you must learn to use first. Here are some instructions that you can follow. Read the introductory section of a dictionary. Usually, all the instructions are given in this section. If you go through the section, it will be easy for you to use the dictionary.  Every dictionary uses some set of abbreviations. You must learn the carefully. Without them, it will be very difficult for you to use the dictionary. You must have a good idea about the symbols of pronunciation.   Dictionary A dictionary is a collection of words of a particular language. It lists the words of a language and gives necessary information about them. It tells us about the spelling, pronunciation, meaning, parts of speech etc. of words. To make the meanings of words clear, example sentence are given in Italics. Example sentences show how words are used. It also gives the synonym/s and the antonym/s of a word. We find words made by adding prefixes and suffixes to the root words. Parts of speech are also shown. A verb word is al ways given in the simple present tense. But the past form f a verb and the past participle are also shown.  

  A Book Shop A book shop is a place where different kinds of textbooks or reference books are sold. It is a very important place for all educated persons. Most of the customers of the book shop are book lovers of the all ages. It is mostly familiar to the students. Generally a book shop is seen beside any educational institutions like - school, college or university. Beside them, It is also found in a stationary market place. In a book shop, there are different shelves which are nicely arranged. It is seen that the books are categorized according to the types. From a book shop, we can buy our text books, story books, novels, dictionaries, science fiction books, pens, pencils, rubbers, rules etc. We can also get binding paper, color paper, graph paper and hand notes on different publishers.   My First Day At School In 2009 I was six years old. I can remember a very important event that happened then. That was my experience about my first day at school. On that very day, my father took me to Neel Para Primary School situated in our village. He took me to the headmaster's room. My heart beat fast. But his smiling face and gentle words put me at ease. He asked me my name. I told him my name. He was pleased with me. he told me that I was a very intelligent boy. Then he pointed to a letter chart and ask me to say some letters. I could say them all. The headmaster then called a teacher. He told him to take me to my class. I bade goodbye to my father and with the teacher I entered the classroom. He welcomed me and give a seat in the class room. My classmates received me warmly. I felt very happy.
